蘋果電腦公司星期三(7日)推出新一代高解像度iPad。

新款iPad最引人注意的是Retina屏幕,分辨率為2048×1536,是上一代產品的4倍

新iPad將於3月16日上市銷售,

首批上市包括美國、加拿大、英國、法國、德國、瑞士、日本、香港、新加坡以及澳大利亞。

不清楚新iPad在其生產地中國大陸何時上市。

從硬件配備看,新款iPad攝像頭有重大改進,前置攝像頭像素達310萬,後置攝像頭像素則達500萬。

用戶可以拍攝1080p的高清視頻短片。

新款iPad搭載A5X處理器。蘋果表示,A5X處理器速度是英偉達Tegra3的兩倍,性能是後者4倍。

新iPad還提高了網絡速度,支持4G LTE網絡,包括HSPA+以及HSDPA兩種技術標準。

外觀上,新款iPad厚9.4毫米,重量為635克。電池續航時間10個小時,但4G網絡狀態下,續航時間為9小時。

蘋果本次推出的iPad分為WIFI版本與4G版本。

雖然硬件配置大幅提高,但售價仍然與iPad2一致。

在新產品發佈會上,蘋果公司還推出蘋果手機和平板電腦運行系統iOS的升級版5.1。

Apple今天凌晨2點發表新一代iPad,在截稿前掌握的消息,

包括名稱改成iPad HD,使用A5X處理器,加強圖形處理能力;

螢幕仍為9.7 吋,採用 Retina螢幕,解析度是2048×1536,

相機提升到500萬畫素,使用新版本的iOS 5.1。

iPad HD也將推出支援4G LTE網路的版本,

配合美國已經建置4G LTE網路的電信商,

但仍保留3G/Wi-Fi與Wi-Fi版本;

至於iPad HD儲存容量,最高達128GB。

蘋果也推出新的Apple TV網路電視機上盒,

支援iPad HD的Full HD無線播放(AirPlay)功能。

據傳,

蘋果將採用由芬蘭研發的革命性觸感回饋技術 Senseg ,

讓每個像素都能產生電脈衝,

形成觸覺回饋,因此不同材質將產生不同觸摸感受的「所見即所觸」,

像是螢幕上秀出石頭,手指像是可以摸到石頭,

此外,因為螢幕很耗電,電池容量加大。

日舉行新產品發佈會,預期將推出第三代平板電腦iPad3。

記者們已開始收到邀請函,上面寫著:我們有樣東西,你非得看不可,還要觸摸。

(We have something you really have to see. And touch)

雖然沒有正式證實iPad3,但是邀請函還附加了一張圖像,看起來像是iPad的觸摸屏幕。

蘋果在2010年首次推出iPad,已經在全球售出5000萬台。

現在仍不清楚iPad3將何時投放市場。

更不知iPad3的硬件配置。

蘋果公司一向對新產品在推出前嚴加保密。

去年,蘋果是在三月份發佈iPad2的,9天後,iPad2開始在美國發售。

蘋果的第一代和第二代iPad開創了平板電腦市場先河,使這種產品成為增長最快的領域。

但是蘋果在平板電腦市場的霸主地位受到谷歌和微軟的挑戰。

此外,蘋果公司還與唯冠科技(深圳)公司就iPad的商標所屬權發生糾紛。

喬布斯終年56歲。

美國蘋果公司宣佈,該公司創辦人兼前任總裁史蒂夫·喬布斯逝世,終年56歲。

蘋果公司星期三(10月5日)按鍵發表聲明說,喬布斯的光輝、熱情與能量是無數創新科技的泉源,這些產品改善與豐富了世人的生活,喬布斯為世界帶來的改善無可估量。

喬布斯於2004年宣佈罹患胰臟癌。

在喬布斯逝世前一天,蘋果電腦剛在其美國加利福利亞州的總部發佈了新一代iPhone 4S手機。

蘋果執行長賈伯斯(Steve Jobs)閃辭,轉任董事長,消息一出,蘋果股價下跌逾5%,衝擊台股原本就弱勢補跌的蘋果概念股,電子股主角換人做,改由「4D」接手。
基於市場「賈伯斯代表蘋果,蘋果代表賈伯斯」的觀感,蘋果相關概念股在訊息面衝擊下,股價表現首當其衝,包括大立光、玉晶光、可成、正崴、宸鴻、勝華、鴻海等,早盤跌幅都在2%左右。
蘋果競爭對手宏達電、華碩則呈現上漲走勢;宏碁則在財報利空下打到跌停板29.35元,持續破底格局,30元關卡失守。
原本最弱勢的LED(發光二極體)、DRAM(動態隨機存取記憶體)、面板、光碟片(CD-R)等「4D族群」,今天全面翻紅,強勢上漲,主角換人做。
LED類股全面翻揚,晶電(2448)每股57.9元、艾笛森57.7元、華興16.75元強攻漲停,億光、璨圓、新世紀、光磊漲幅4%到5%。面板雙虎友達、奇美雙雙由黑翻紅。
法人表示,蘋果概念股基本面表現佳,但近來頻頻受到訊息面及籌碼面衝擊,表現相對其他電子股弱勢,原本股價這波拉回修正後,廉價版的iPhone 4及iPhone5成為市場下波關注焦點,不料賈伯斯閃辭執行長職務,儘管對台灣供應鏈立即影響不大,但股價先跌再說。
法人指出,蘋果相關概念股股價大多位處相對高點位置,三大法人持股也在高水位區,大盤震盪加上訊息面衝擊不斷,多空拉鋸下震盪整理,後市待籌碼沉澱後,才有續攻力道。

With iCloud, Apple and Google have met in the middle for what will be quite a battle for the hearts and minds of the technorati.

SAN JOSE, Calif. – Once again Apple has taken something most of its competitors are doing, polished the customer value part of it and come out looking like a pioneer.

So it goes with the iCloud service that brings Apple into closer competition with many services Google and others have been offering for some time. Apple’s move follows announcements months ago by traditional rivals such Dell and Hewlett-Packard that are spending big bucks on their own cloud services and Intel which has been helping others launch cloud services as a way to cement customer relationships and lock users into the x86.

The contrast between Apple and Google in cloud is interesting. Apple remains a device company edging into a growing business in online services. Google is just the opposite. Now the two have essentially met in the middle for what will be quite a battle for the hearts and minds of the technorati.

While Dell and HP have announced generic plans to build big clouds, Apple has shown them a way to do it that really helps end users.

Apple has defined a half a dozen solid iCloud services, some of them simply reborn of Apple’s failed MobileMe service. Others are fresh and thoughtful—the new iTunes Match service for example, that automates the process of getting all your music from any service in one repository. That’s something that users have needed for a looooong time.

Apple’s storage, backup and other music and e-book services are the sorts of things others are already doing or ought to be doing—making all content available on all registered devices from one service. Duh—that’s sort of what Web services are supposed to be about.

It’s a tribute to Apple’s focus on customer value they saw such unmet needs as simply notifying all your devices when new photos are available on any of them. It’s also an indictment of the rest of the industry that it has not delivered such simple things widely.

It makes sense now that Apple really wants to drive into offering online services it should bake online capabilities deeply into the gadgets that represent its main business. After all, Apple is the poster boy for vertical integration these days.

So it should be no surprise, Apple will bury the roots of its new messaging and news subscription services in to the bowels of iOS. That would give the fledgling services a hand getting in front of users and providing capabilities a more open alternative could not provide. This is a form of customer lock in at its best—and worst—and is typical of Apple’s closed model.

It will be interesting to see if either Apple or Google move on to cloud-based movie services. The Ultraviolet technology developed in conjunction with movie studios is ready to start forming the basis of such online services. Google is more culturally likely than Apple to reach out to someone else’s digital rights management technology.

Apple is going deep into Web services at a time when Google is increasing its hardware footprint. Not only have Google Android smartphones emerged as the leading competitors to Apple iOS, Google Chromebooks now directly compete with Apple MacBooks.

This is classic Mac versus Windows. Apple has an edge in controlling the design of its products from A5 microprocessors to Web services. Google can leverage a bazillion open source developers and OEMs to deliver its products, but it must heard those cats who will inevitably produce less than optimal work–but much more of it.

History shows good enough and lower cost usually win. Thus the Wintel PC. So I give Google a big edge here as the long term winner.

The Internet search giant is not shaking in its boots over iCloud. Apple’s comment that it spent $500 million in one new data center to help launch these products is laughable. Dell committed to spending a billion on its cloud plans this year.

These amounts are drops in a barrel compared to what Google has spent with reportedly as many as a million servers in distributed data centers humming all around the world for years now.

Welcome to cloud computing Apple. It’s going to be one heck of a show.

蘋果推出的新款平版電腦iPad2,今天正式在美國236家經銷商及網路商店販售,吸引許多死忠的蘋果迷排隊搶購,繼美國開賣後,將陸續於歐陸、日本及澳洲等25國上市,但台灣方面確切的上市日期和售價仍未確定,預估最快8月才會來台灣,跟蘋果迷見面。
本月初,傳出罹癌消息的蘋果執行長賈伯斯現身新產品發表會,帶著新款平板電腦iPad2風光地宣布,「2011年將是iPad2年」;iPad2的厚度僅有0.88公分、重量也相當輕巧,僅有0.589公斤,並特地增設前後鏡頭,既能拍照也能夠進行視訊交談,蘋果迷無不引頸企盼iPad2。
美國時間3月11日下午5點iPad2於全美236家蘋果零售及網路商店正式販售,不少實體通鋪早已大排長龍,期盼能儘早入手,據悉,蘋果零售商店將提供客戶免費的個人安裝服務,協助設定電子郵件及下載應用程式等,因此,客戶離開商店,便能馬上把玩手中全新的iPad2。
iPad2除在美國已開賣,其他25國家,包括澳洲、歐洲等國及日本也將在25日開賣;台灣方面,估計要等到8月左右才會上市。

What price will consumers pay for a tablet?

At first I thought the Motorola Xoom pricing was reasonable for its specifications, but then I tried it out.

As I wrote a couple weeks ago, anytablet over $500cannot compete with the iPad and will just be a niche product.

My buddy Kevin Tofel posted a great article on GigaOM Mobile that shows survey results about what price consumers will pay for a tablet and it confirms my current thoughts on the subject.

As you can see in Kevin’s article, the “would definitely buy at that price” level is $351 while the “would never pay that much” price is $524. The T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy Tab that I have and love can now be picked up for $250 with subsidies. (Tip: Buy it this way and pay the $200 ETF if you want later for a cheaper price than buying it outright.) The 16GB iPad 2 will be priced at $499 and we just saw the first generation iPad sell out on Woot for just $329.

I remember thinking back before the first iPad launched, and even for a bit of time after, that the iPad was a “nice to have” device and there was no real need being met with the iPad or a tablet device. We have now seen over 15 million iPads be purchased by consumers and I have to admit that Apple seems to have created a market for the tablet. That said, it is obvious that Apple owns this market and I just don’t think others can compete.

Apple has the benefit of economies of scale in production for the iPad and at this time no one else can compete on price. I like seeing competition because it usually drives innovation and improvements, but unless you are a die hard Android fan I really don’t know why you would buy one instead of an iPad or iPad 2.

The iPad 2 joins a growing chorus of dual-core tablets but observers expect the new mobile system and its custom A5 system-on-chip will do well in the battle ahead.

PORTLAND, Ore. – The iPad 2 joins a growing chorus of dual-core tablets in what Apple chief executive hailed as the post-PC era. Although Apple lacks a jump on competitors in the current round, observers expect it will do well with its latest system and its new A5 system-on-chip.

Apple held a commanding 84.7 percent of the 17 million unit tablet market in 2010,according to International Data Corp., shipping months before its nearest competitor the Samsung Galaxy Tab. Fueled by many new vendors, IDC expects the market to grow to 44 million units this year and more than 70 million in 2012.

Last year, Apple has sold nearly 50 million systems using its single-core A4 processor, nearly four times as many units as Apple’s x86-based PCs, according to estimates from market watcher IHS iSuppli.

Apple sells five products based on its single-core A4–the first-generation iPad, the AT&T version of the iPhone 4, the Apple TV, the iPod Touch and the CDMA iPhone 4 carried by Verizon Wireless.

The iPad 2 is Apple’s first product to use its new dual-core A5. In 2011, Apple faces a host of top tier competitors all with GHz-class chips.

Hewlett-Packard has announced a WebOS tablet based on a dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor.

LG, Motorola and Samsung have announced Android tablets based on Nvidia’s Tegra 2.

And Research in Motion is ramping up a beta program for its Playbook tablet using a dual-core ARM Cortex A9 Omap 4430 processor from Texas Instruments.

"This is the year for dual-core tablets, there’s no doubt about that," said Nathan Brookwood, principal of market watcher Insight64 (Saratoga, Calif.) who attended the original iPad launch last year.

The extra horsepower is helping shift tablets from content consumption to content creation systems, Brookwood said, noting Apple’s new Garage Band and iMovie apps for the iPad. "That’s where the extra core will come in handy," he said.

"I was a little disappointed they are sticking with the same resolution [as the original iPad], however they do have an HDMI port on the iPad 2 to hook up to large screen TVs," he added.

"These are post-PC devices that need to be easier and more intuitive than a PC, and the software, hardware and applications need to intertwine in an even more seamless way than on a PC," said Jobs, returning from medical leave to launch the iPad 2 in San Francisco.

“In the new design paradigm of smart phones and tablets, computing efficiency trumps raw computing power,” agreed Wayne Lam, senior analyst, competitive analysis, at IHS. ”Designs like the iPad demand highly integrated microprocessors that emphasize graphics performance, lower power consumption and small space usage.”

Details about the Apple A5 chip and other iPad 2 electronics will have to wait until systems become available for teardown experts.

The A5 runs at the same GHz frequency as the A4.

Adding a second core alone would not provide the doubling of performance a nine-fold increase in graphics Apple claims.

Brookwood suggested Apple may have shifted from the ARM Cortex A8 core in its A4 chip to a Cortex A9, upgraded a separate graphics core and thrown in a few other tricks as well.

氣色看來不錯,全場起立為他鼓掌歡呼。

原先外界擔心賈伯斯若無法出席,將可能加深外界對他病情不樂觀的揣測。

賈伯斯說,蘋果為iPad2花了許多時間,因此他不想錯過這個場合。

他強調,去年iPad上市九個月就賣了一千五百萬台,

對手之一的三星平板電腦迄今才賣了兩百萬台。

比第一代輕三分之一

iPad2相較於第一代iPad6薄了百分之三十三,搭配速度更快的處理器,記憶體也更大。

也有產業人士推測,iPad2將採用同時支援GSM和CDMA系統的雙模通訊晶片。

外界原本猜測新一代iPad將配置USB連接埠,但後來又說是SD記憶卡插槽。

此外,還有傳聞指二代iPad將配置Thunderbolt連接埠,

可供平板電腦與高畫質電視之間進行高速傳輸。

第一代iPad去年四月問世後,去年全球銷售量將近一千五百萬台,

是分析家原本預期的三倍、甚至四倍,

為蘋果公司二○一○年的營收挹注九十億美元。

根據PRTM市場研究公司統計,到去年底為止,

市面上已有三十種不同款式的平板電腦,加上正在研發中的新品,

將有六十四家不同廠商的一○二款平板電腦競逐市場。

戴爾財務長葛萊登在近日一篇訪問中就曾說,這個市場「過度競爭」。

據稱第三代iPad也將在今年問世,爆料者還說iPad3比二代「更令人期待」。
